Registered practical nurse (R.P.N.)

TOMODA HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS INC ( Gloucester, ON) is currently looking for a skilled Registered practical nurse (R.P.N.). This position requires the successful applicant to begin duties at the earliest opportunity. This role offers Term or contractPart time leading to full time employment. The schedule involves Morning, Evening, Shift, On call, Flexible hours, Overtime available shifts.

Job Description

• The candidate must administer medications as prescribed.
• The candidate must apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing.
• The candidate must conduct specimen collection in accordance with protocols.
• The candidate must ensure infection control.
• The candidate must monitor nutritional intake.
• The candidate must observe and record medication’s therapeutic and side effects.
• The candidate must prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing operative areas.
• The candidate must record observations of medication therapeutic effects and side effects in patient files.
• The candidate must take vital signs.
• The candidate must monitor established respiratory and intravenous therapy treatments.
• The candidate must provide safety and health education to individuals and their families.
• The candidate must provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures.
• The candidate must monitor patients’ progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions, and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
• The candidate must be accurate.
• The candidate should be client-focused.

• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must have good judgement skills.

Work Setting

• The candidate should be willing to relocate and be ready to move to a new city/different city for a job.
• The candidate must work in a home care or visiting care agency to provide support, assistance, and health services to clients in their residences.
• The candidate should work in a nursing home/home for the aged or people who don't need to be in a hospital but can't be cared for at home.
• The candidate must work in chronic or long-term care facilities to provide care, support residents’ health, and assist staff.
• The candidate must work in a retirement home to provide care, support daily activities, and promote residents’ wellbeing.

• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in various positions, including those that require sitting, standing, and walking, as well as those that involve physical activity.

• The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
• The candidate must be able to pass a driving record check (abstract).
• The candidate must provide up-to-date immunization records.
• The candidate must be eligible for professional liability insurance.
• The candidate must be able to pass a tuberculosis test.
• The candidate must be able to pass a vulnerable sector check.

• The candidate must have their own transportation.
