Telecommunications equipment technician

Apex Fibre Limited in Mississauga, ON is inviting applications for the position of Telecommunications equipment technician. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills to start as soon as possible. We are offering a Permanent employment or Full time opportunity. The schedule involves Morning, Day, Evening shifts.

Job Description

• The candidate must diagnose and locate equipment faults, and adjust, replace, or repair telecommunications equipment.
• The candidate must inspect operation of telecommunications equipment.
• The candidate must install, arrange, remove, and maintain telephone equipment, wiring, and associated hardware.
• The candidate must repair or replace defective telephone equipment.
• The candidate must test installed telephone systems to locate transmission faults.
• The candidate must complete and maintain test and service reports.
• The candidate must determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble.
• The candidate must install electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems, circuits, and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centres.
• The candidate must determine work assignments.
• The candidate must install cable modems and software to enable Internet access.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a College/CEGEP diploma.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must have excellent written communication skills.
• The candidate must be a good team player.

• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in various positions, including those that require sitting, standing, and walking, as well as those that involve physical activity.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
• The candidate must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
