Maintenance plumber

Ontario Public Service in Hamilton, ON is seeking a self-motivated Maintenance plumber. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position. Shift timings include: Shift, To be determined.

Job Description

• The candidate must read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network, and waste and drainage systems.
• The candidate must prepare tenders and quotations.
• The candidate must locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
• The candidate must cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
• The candidate must join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
• The candidate must test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
• The candidate must determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
• The candidate must supervise other workers.
• The candidate must estimate costs and materials.
• The candidate must operate CADD and other computer software systems.
• The candidate must measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size.

Work Site Environment

• The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in a correctional facility where a person accused of or convicted of a crime is lodged for a specified period.
