Freeman Lumber is situated in Greenfield, NS and is hiring a Fourth-class power engineer to join the team. This position requires the successful applicant to begin duties at the earliest opportunity. Terms of employment: Permanent employment or Full time. Work schedule: Day, Night, Weekend, Shift.

Job Description

• The candidate must complete and maintain station records, logs and reports.
• The candidate must analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunctions.
• The candidate must assist during routine systems testing.
• The candidate must assist in locating and isolating system problems.
• The candidate must assist in developing operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• The candidate must investigate problems and perform minor repairs.
• The candidate must maintain a daily log of operation, maintenance and safety activities.
• The candidate must monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect malfunctions and ensure normal operations.
• The candidate must operate automated or computerized control systems.
• The candidate must start up and shut down power plant equipment.
• The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
• The candidate must operate heavy equipment.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must hold a certificate or diploma in a related trade.
• Or equivalent experience.
• The candidate must be able to lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
• The candidate must be dependable.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must be a good team player.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in sitting positions.
• The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods.

Work Site Environment

• The candidate must be able to work at heights.
• The candidate will be required to work in confined spaces.
• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
