Farm manager

Langley Berry Farms Inc. in Langley, BC is seeking a self-motivated Farm manager. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills to start as soon as possible. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position.

Job Description

• The candidate must clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
• The candidate must consider water saturation, light, and temperature when planning for crop growth and development.
• The candidate must cultivate and manage vertical farming systems.
• The candidate must direct agricultural crop clipping activities.
• The candidate must direct agricultural crop deleafing activities.
• The candidate must direct farm grooming activities.
• The candidate must divide fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
• The candidate must follow sustainable soy farming practices such as crop rotation, reduced tillage, water and nutrient management, precision farming technology, and cover cropping.
• The candidate must harvest seedlings.
• The candidate must implement soil fertility programs.
• The candidate must mix fertilizers.
• The candidate must organize planting, cultivation and crop harvesting activities.
• The candidate must oversee the activities of clearing fields.
• The candidate must perform seed cutting.
• The candidate must perform weeding.
• The candidate must maintain farm machinery, equipment, and buildings.
• The candidate must manage the overall operation of the farm.
• The candidate will be responsible for establishing marketing programs.
• The candidate must maintain financial and production records.
• The candidate must perform general farm duties.
• The candidate must recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
• The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.
• The candidate must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate must be able to handle a large workload.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods.
• The candidate should be willing to work under pressure.
