Academics Prekindergarten North Vancouver in North Vancouver, BC is seeking a self-motivated Early childhood educator (E.C.E.). We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position. Shift timings include: Day.

Job Description

• The candidate must develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
• The candidate must engage in storytelling.
• The candidate must lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
• The candidate must encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities.
• The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
• The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
• The candidate must prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
• The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
• The candidate must submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
• The candidate must discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
• The candidate must maintain knowledge of licensing regulations.
• The candidate must establish guidelines for behaviour.
• The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and challenges of children.
• The candidate must establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
• The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
• The candidate must supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program lasting 3 months to less than 1 year.
• Or equivalent experience.
• The candidate must be punctual.

• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
• The candidate must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in a child care centre, a day nursery, or a crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
