Now hiring: Chef at the gard in Collingwood, ON. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills to start as soon as possible. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position. The schedule involves Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend shifts.

Job Description

• The candidate must estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items.
• The candidate must maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
• The candidate must analyze operating costs and other data.
• The candidate must create new recipes.
• The candidate must instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
• The candidate must prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
• The candidate must supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.
• The candidate must prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions.
• The candidate must prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.
• The candidate must requisition food and kitchen supplies as needed.
• The candidate must arrange for equipment purchases and repairs.
• The candidate must consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions.
• The candidate must plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
• The candidate must prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• The candidate must be dependable.
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must show initiative.
• The candidate must be well-organized.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.

Work Site Environment

• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.

• The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
• The candidate must work in hot conditions.

Work Setting

• The candidate must work in a formal dining room to serve meals, manage table service, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• The candidate should work in restaurants that are generally fast-paced and require the utmost efficiency.
• The candidate should work in a bar to prepare and serve drinks to customers in liquor-licensed premises such as bars, nightclubs, hotels, and restaurants.
• The candidate should work in decoration delivery, banquet arrangement, table setup, and menu design and preparation in a catering firm.
