Job Description

  • The candidate must prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles, or other masonry units.
  • The candidate must lay bricks, stone, or similar materials to provide veneer facing.
  • The candidate must read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required.
  • The candidate must work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages.
  • The candidate must cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must be fluent in English.
  • The candidate must hold a Registered Apprenticeship certificate.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The candidate must be accurate.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • The candidate must be reliable.
  • The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
  • The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
  • The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods.
  • The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.

Work Setting

  • The candidate should work in construction trades and crafts, including bricklaying, stonemasonry, carpentry, joinery, demolition, electrical work, painting and decorating, plumbing, scaffolding, steeple jacking, and wall and floor work.
  • The candidate must focus on repair work, restoring damaged, deteriorated, or broken items to good condition.
  • The candidate must work in a commercial setting that fosters a workforce of highly competent, respectful, mature, and accountable employees working toward a common goal.
  • The candidate should work in the industrial area with facilities such as factories, plants, processing operations, and similar operations.
  • The candidate should work in an institution, the purposive action of individuals and organizations aimed at creating, maintaining, and disrupting institutions.
  • The candidate must work in residential settings, performing tasks on one-, two-, and three-family dwellings.
