Job Description

  • The candidate must interview clients to obtain employment history, educational background, and career goals.
  • The candidate must interview clients, prepare case histories and assess presenting problems.
  • The candidate must refer clients to appropriate external services.
  • The candidate must identify barriers to employment and assist clients with job readiness skills, job search strategies, résumé writing, and interview preparation.
  • The candidate must perform administrative tasks.
  • The candidate must develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in setting and achieving goals.
  • The candidate must counsel clients, provide therapy and mediation services and facilitate group sessions.
  • The candidate must administer and interpret aptitude and interest assessment tests.
  • The candidate must collect labour market information regarding job openings, entry requirements, skill requirements, and occupational information.
  • The candidate must follow up on counseling program results and client adjustments.
  • The candidate must provide established workers with strategies for job retention and advancement within an organization.
  • The candidate must provide consulting services to community groups, businesses, industries, and organizations involved in career planning support.
  • The candidate must identify additional or alternative services and provide appropriate referrals.
  • The candidate must liaise with community agencies or partners to coordinate services and provide referrals.
  • The candidate must provide public education and consultation regarding counseling services and methods.
