Telecommunication line technician

Hitech Professionals Limited is situated in Edmonton, AB and is hiring a Telecommunication line technician to join the team. The successful candidate must be available to start work as soon as possible. Terms of employment: Permanent employment or Full time. Work schedule: Overtime required, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, On call, Flexible hours, To be determined.

Job Description

• The candidate must inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment.
• The candidate must install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment.
• The candidate must read blueprints to determine work requirements.
• The candidate must repair cable signals.
• The candidate must test equipment to locate transmission faults.
• The candidate must install trunking systems, circuits, and equipment.
• The candidate must complete and maintain test and service reports.
• The candidate must determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble.
• The candidate must climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures.
• The candidate must connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets.
• The candidate must install cable modems and software to enable Internet access.
• The candidate must repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers.
• The candidate must splice, join, and connect wires.
• The candidate must repair or replace defective telephone equipment.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in various positions, including those that require sitting, standing, and walking, as well as those that involve physical activity.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
• The candidate must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Work Site Environment

• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
• The candidate must be able to work at heights.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in various locations when employees are scattered across different worksites.
