Job Description
- The candidate will be responsible for managing a multi-shift Cannabis Retail Store operation with regular and auxiliary staff.
- The candidate will be responsible for promoting the highest level of social responsibility through a consumer-centric approach.
- The candidate will contribute to the department's overall sales targets through both store and online sales.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing all aspects of the store's operations and implementing improvements where required.
- The candidate will provide guidance and direction to staff to implement improvements, communicate and apply LDB policies, procedures, and regulations, recommend changes to LDB policy, and implement procedural changes.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing the store budget, providing input, monitoring costs, examining budget variances, and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
- The candidate will be responsible for applying the Cannabis Act, its associated regulations, and the Main and Component Collective Agreements in daily operations.
- The candidate must manage contracts with private service providers responsible for landscaping, janitorial, plumbing, and waste removal services for the store.
- The candidate will be responsible for maximizing revenue through effective merchandising and customer relations, guiding staff in improving merchandising techniques, and determining, implementing, and updating retailing programs, including display, fixture, and layout changes.
- The candidate will be responsible for monitoring sales, stock levels, and product or brand trends while working with Merchandising Replenishment Analysts to maximize results.
- The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and exceeding customer experience expectations by guiding staff in continuously improving selling techniques and customer relationship-building skills.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to staff, controlling operating costs, and ensuring the safety of the store, staff, and assets.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing and training store staff through a variety of individual and group training methods.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the objectives of the LDB are achieved in customer service, product knowledge, asset control, and sales.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing human resources functions, including supervising staff, recruiting and hiring employees, managing disciplinary matters, authorizing leave, approving overtime, and conducting formal employee performance appraisals.
- The candidate will be responsible for reviewing the store's performance and operating procedures, organizing workloads and work schedules, and resolving related operational issues.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing the store's safety risk assessment and maintaining adequate security at all times by applying Corporate Loss Prevention and Store Operations policies and directives.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting the LDB Corporate Loss Prevention department with investigations involving cash or stock losses by providing the required information.
- The candidate will be responsible for working with the Regional Manager to develop operational plans that support the broader objectives of the LDB Cannabis Division business plan.
- The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that requests for two pieces of identification are made in accordance with the 2ID policy to verify age and meet legal requirements.
- The candidate will perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must possess a Secondary (high) school diploma or an equivalent certificate.
- The candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years of recent, related experience leading a team within a customer-facing retail operation, along with experience in customer service and asset management.
- Preference may be given to candidates who have completed a degree, diploma, or certificate in business or retail management.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in a government or regulatory environment.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in a unionized environment.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in the cannabis industry.
- Preference may be given to candidates who have completed formal cannabis coursework from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- The candidate must have successfully completed the Selling it Rightβ’ certification.
- The candidate will be required to possess relief experience.

- The candidate will be required to work in office, retail, and warehouse locations as needed.
- The candidate must be available to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
