Cabinetmaker

Norwest Millwork Ltd is situated in North Vancouver, BC and is hiring a Cabinetmaker to join the team. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position.

Job Description

• The candidate must operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
• The candidate must instruct apprentices.
• The candidate must study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made.
• The candidate must trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form a complete unit and reinforce joints.
• The candidate must sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products, and prepare and apply laminated plastics.
• The candidate must apply varnish, veneer, stain, or polish to finished products.
• The candidate must maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• The candidate must repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures, and related products.

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate must be accurate.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.

Work Setting

• The candidate must work in a furniture repair shop to restore, refinish, and repair furniture items.
• The candidate must work in residential settings, performing tasks on one-, two-, and three-family dwellings.
• The candidate must work in a commercial setting that fosters a workforce of highly competent, respectful, mature, and accountable employees working toward a common goal.
• The candidate must work in troubleshooting to identify, diagnose, and resolve operational or technical issues.
