Public works engineer

Heiltsuk Tribal Council in Bella Bella, BC is inviting applications for the position of Public works engineer. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. This is a Term or contractFull time position. Work schedule: On call, , 08:00 to 17:00.

Job Description

• The candidate must act as project or site supervisor for land survey or construction work.
• The candidate must conduct site visits to gather relevant information.
• The candidate must confer with clients and other members of the engineering team and conduct research to determine project requirements.
• The candidate must develop construction specifications and procedures.
• The candidate must establish and monitor construction work schedules.
• The candidate must interpret, review, and approve survey and civil design work.
• The candidate must prepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction projects.
• The candidate must provide exceptional customer service.
• The candidate must supervise technicians, technologists, and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
• The candidate must offer mentoring.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must hold a certificate or diploma in a related trade.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must be well-organized.
• The candidate must be a good team player.

Work Setting

• The candidate must work from a remote location, performing their duties from a site other than the employer’s central office while maintaining productivity and communication.

• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in various positions, including those that require sitting, standing, and walking, as well as those that involve physical activity.

• There is no access to public transportation.
• The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
