Long haul truck driver

ROOTS GOODS CARRIER LTD. is situated in Abbotsford, BC and is hiring a Long haul truck driver to join the team. The successful candidate must be available to start work as soon as possible. This role offers Permanent employment or Full time employment. Flexible availability required for: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Flexible hours, Overtime available.

Job Description

• The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• The candidate must load and unload goods efficiently.
• The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely.
• The candidate must oversee the condition of vehicles and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
• The candidate must perform brake adjustments.
• The candidate must perform emergency roadside repairs.
• The candidate must perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle operation.
• The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
• The candidate must receive and relay information to central dispatch.

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must have good judgement skills.
• The candidate must be well-organized.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate must be a good team player.
• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must be able to handle a large workload.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
