Greenhouse labourer

Pine Ridge Gardens in Dunnville, ON is seeking a self-motivated Greenhouse labourer. Ideally suited for a motivated individual ready to join the team immediately. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position. Shift timings include: , 07:30 to 17:00.

Job Description

• The candidate must perform budding of trees.
• The candidate must clean crops effectively.
• The candidate must clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas.
• The candidate must consider water saturation, light, and temperature when planning for germination.
• The candidate must cut agricultural seed according to farm standards.
• The candidate must cut horticultural crops.
• The candidate must deleaf agricultural crops to accelerate ripening.
• The candidate must divide fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
• The candidate must perform greenhouse cleaning.
• The candidate must guide growing shoots into optimal development positions.
• The candidate must harvest seedlings.
• The candidate must level earth to meet fine grade specifications.
• The candidate must mix fertilizers.
• The candidate must operate climate controls.
• The candidate must manually remove all suckers and water sprouts.
• The candidate must tie and secure plants.
• The candidate must train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality.
• The candidate must perform weeding.
• The candidate must write daily basic progress reports.
• The candidate must spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides.
• The candidate must assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants.
• The candidate must mix and prepare soils.
• The candidate must plant bulbs and seeds.
• The candidate must pot and re-pot plants.
• The candidate must transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings.
• The candidate must apply fertilizers.
• The candidate must report signs of insect or disease damage.
• The candidate must assist in grafting activities.
• The candidate must dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs.
• The candidate must water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens.
• The candidate must clean work areas.
• The candidate must perform preventive maintenance.
• The candidate must perform routine maintenance.
• The candidate must prepare, package, and restock goods.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor's degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
• The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate must be a good team player.
• The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.
• The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks frequently.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in a rural area; most people live or work on farms or ranches. Hamlets, villages, towns, and other small settlements are in or surrounded by rural areas.
