Floor covering installer

Valiant Flooring ( Scarborough, ON) is currently looking for a skilled Floor covering installer. Ideally suited for a motivated individual ready to join the team immediately. Position status: Permanent employment or Full time. Required shifts: Day.

Job Description

• The candidate must inspect, measure, and mark surfaces to be covered.
• The candidate must measure, cut, and fasten underlay and underpadding.
• The candidate must prepare flooring plans and scheduling.
• The candidate must measure, cut, and install carpeting on floors.
• The candidate must prepare tenders and quotations.
• The candidate must measure, cut, and install resilient floor coverings.
• The candidate must prepare and install hardwood floors.
• The candidate must inspect and repair damaged floor coverings.
• The candidate must conduct moisture, pH, temperature, and other tests prior to flooring installations.
• The candidate must estimate costs and materials.
• The candidate must prepare floors for installations.
• The candidate must remove existing floor coverings and contaminants.
• The candidate must install carpeting on walls or other surfaces.
• The candidate must employ knee kickers and other equipment to stretch carpeting.
• The candidate must perform direct glue-down carpet installations.
• The candidate must perform double-bond carpet installations.
• The candidate must install outdoor carpets.
• The candidate must install resilient stair components designed for visually impaired accessibility.
• The candidate must install materials on countertops and raised platforms.
• The candidate must install vinyl decking materials.
• The candidate must read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor's degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
• The candidate must be able to distinguish between colours.
• The candidate must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
