Fish-processing plant worker

PAC SEAFOOD - PORT HARDY, LTD. ( Port Hardy, BC) is currently looking for a skilled Fish-processing plant worker. This position requires the successful applicant to begin duties at the earliest opportunity. Terms of employment: Permanent employment or Full time. The schedule involves Overtime required, Early morning, Morning, Day, Weekend, Shift, On call, Flexible hours, Overtime available shifts.

Job Description

• The candidate must cut and weigh fish fillets according to specifications.
• The candidate must cut, clean, and trim fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing.
• The candidate must scrape away scales, cut fish, separate fillets, and remove scrap parts using a knife.
• The candidate must condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing.
• The candidate must check products and packaging for defects, ensure conformance to company standards, and perform corrective machine adjustments as required.
• The candidate must record production information.
• The candidate must weigh fish or shellfish, record weights, and pack products in ice for storage or transport.
• The candidate must clean machines and immediate work areas.
• The candidate must measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines.
• The candidate must sort fish according to species, weight, and destination.

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor's degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate must be a good team player.
• The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks frequently.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.

• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods.

Work Site Environment

• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
• The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
• The candidate must work in cold or refrigerated conditions.
• The candidate must work in wet or damp conditions.
• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.
