Fish plant worker

BMC Seafoods Limited ( Meteghan, NS) is currently looking for a skilled Fish plant worker. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. This role offers Seasonal employment or Full time employment. Flexible availability required for: Overtime required, Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Shift, On call, Overtime available.

Job Description

• The candidate must unload fish and shellfish from vessels and transport by hand.
• The candidate must transport fish and shellfish to the designated work area.
• The candidate must check products and packaging for defects, ensure conformance to company standards, and perform corrective machine adjustments as required.
• The candidate must set up and operate machines to can, bag, box, or otherwise package fish and seafood products.
• The candidate must weigh fish or shellfish, record weights, and pack products in ice for storage or transport.
• The candidate must clean machines and immediate work areas.
• The candidate must sort fish according to species, weight, and destination.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate must be a good team player.

Work Site Environment

• The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
• The candidate must work in cold or refrigerated conditions.
• The candidate must work in wet or damp conditions.
