Fish plant worker

Pecheries Cheticamp Fisheries in Chéticamp, NS is seeking a self-motivated Fish plant worker. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. Position status: Seasonal employment or Full time. Shift timings include: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, On call, Overtime available.

Job Description

• The candidate must cut, clean, and trim fish or seafood prior to marketing or further processing.
• The candidate must unload fish and shellfish from vessels and transport by hand.
• The candidate must check products and packaging for defects, ensure conformance to company standards, and perform corrective machine adjustments as required.
• The candidate must disjoint and remove meat from lobsters or other crustaceans preparatory to canning or further processing.
• The candidate must record production information.
• The candidate must set up and operate machines to can, bag, box, or otherwise package fish and seafood products.
• The candidate must set up and operate machines to clean, cut, cook, smoke, brine, dehydrate, or otherwise process fish or seafood products.
• The candidate must weigh fish or shellfish, record weights, and pack products in ice for storage or transport.
• The candidate must clean work areas.
• The candidate must transport items throughout the plant using powered equipment.

• There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor's degree, a certificate, or a diploma.

• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.

• The candidate must work in wet or damp conditions.
