Job Description

• The candidate must interview clients individually, in families, or in groups to assess their situations and determine the types of services required.
• The candidate must provide mediation services.
• The candidate must take authorized protective action when necessary.
• The candidate must provide counsel and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems.
• The candidate must plan assistance programs for clients.
• The candidate must refer clients to agencies providing financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services.
• The candidate must provide public education and consultation regarding counselling services, issues, and methods.
• The candidate must serve as a member of an interdisciplinary professional team working with client groups.
• The candidate must evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and patient outcomes.
• The candidate must monitor and evaluate.
• The candidate must prepare reports or case histories.
• The candidate must develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in setting and achieving goals.
• The candidate must conduct training sessions.
• The candidate must supervise children’s visits with parents to ensure safety.
• The candidate must provide supportive counselling and life skills programming.
• The candidate must interview clients, prepare case histories and assess presenting problems.
