Early childhood educator (E.C.E.)

Montessori School House Inc ( Maple, ON) is currently looking for a skilled Early childhood educator (E.C.E.). Ideally suited for a motivated individual ready to join the team immediately. This role offers Permanent employment or Full time employment. Required shifts: Morning, Day, Shift.

Job Description

• The candidate must develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
• The candidate must engage in storytelling.
• The candidate must supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers.
• The candidate must lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
• The candidate must assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping accurate records.
• The candidate must encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities.
• The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
• The candidate must prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
• The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
• The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and challenges of children.
• The candidate must establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
• The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
• The candidate must plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
• The candidate must supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program lasting 3 months to less than 1 year.
• Equivalent professional experience accepted.
• The candidate must be punctual.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in a child care centre, a day nursery, or a crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
• The candidate should work in an urban area with a high population density.
