Job Description
- The candidate must bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
- The candidate must develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- The candidate must maintain daycare equipment.
- The candidate must engage in storytelling.
- The candidate must supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers.
- The candidate must assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- The candidate must lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
- The candidate must order supplies and equipment.
- The candidate must assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping accurate records.
- The candidate must encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities.
- The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
- The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
- The candidate must submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
- The candidate must discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
- The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and challenges of children.
- The candidate must establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
- The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
- The candidate must plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.

- The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
