Construction estimator

Pickard Construction Ltd ( Errington, BC) is currently looking for a skilled Construction estimator. This position requires the successful applicant to begin duties at the earliest opportunity. This role offers Permanent employment or Full time employment. Flexible availability required for: Morning, Day.

Job Description

• The candidate must prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
• The candidate must prepare pre-qualification submissions to present to clients.
• The candidate must read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
• The candidate must operate CADD and other computer software systems.
• The candidate must prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads.
• The candidate must project cash flow and financing requirements.
• The candidate must create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms.
• The candidate must utilize quantity take-off procedures.
• The candidate must advise on tendering procedures.
• The candidate must analyze tenders and recommend awards.
• The candidate must set up cost monitoring and reporting systems.
• The candidate must monitor and adjust contract expenditures.
• The candidate must prepare and maintain a directory of supplies and trade contractors.
• The candidate must liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree.
• Equivalent experience is acceptable.
• The candidate should be client-focused.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must have excellent written communication skills.
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must be well-organized.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in estimating; precise time estimates help you plan and parse your work — as a result, you manage your time and errands properly.
• The candidate must work in quantity surveying to estimate costs, manage budgets, and oversee project expenditures.
• The candidate's relocation costs should not be covered by the employer; if the company does not provide a relocation package, you may request an advance on your earnings to cover some of your moving expenses.
