Job Description
- The candidate must command and operate ships or vessels to transport passengers and cargo.
- The candidate must supervise and co-ordinate activities of deck crews.
- The candidate must determine geographical position using navigational instruments, maps, and charts.
- The candidate must direct and oversee the loading and unloading of cargo.
- The candidate must maintain vessel’s navigational instruments and equipment.
- The candidate must control, steer, and navigate a vessel in various waterways.
- The candidate must enforce regulations in Canadian waters.
- The candidate must record vessel’s progress, weather, and sea conditions in ship’s log.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must be fluent in English or French.
- The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.
