Bricklayer

Sekhon Painting is situated in Calgary, AB and is hiring a Bricklayer to join the team. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills to start as soon as possible. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position. The schedule involves Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend shifts.

Job Description

• The candidate must prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles, or other masonry units.
• The candidate must estimate materials, tools, and equipment required for projects.
• The candidate must construct and install prefabricated masonry units.
• The candidate must cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
• The candidate must lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces.
• The candidate must lay radial bricks to construct masonry shells of industrial chimneys.
• The candidate will be responsible for lining and relining furnaces, kilns, boilers, and similar installations using refractory or acid-resistant bricks, refractory concretes, plastic refractories, and other specialized materials.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate should be client-focused.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate must be a good team player.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in construction trades and crafts, including bricklaying, stonemasonry, carpentry, joinery, demolition, electrical work, painting and decorating, plumbing, scaffolding, steeple jacking, and wall and floor work.
• The candidate's relocation costs should be covered by the employer, allowing the employer to contribute to the employee's relocation costs incurred in moving closer to the company's offices or other work locations as required.
• The candidate should be willing to relocate and be ready to move to a new city/different city for a job.
