Apprentice sheet metal worker

Laing Roofing Ltd. ( Kelowna, BC) is currently looking for a skilled Apprentice sheet metal worker. This position requires the successful applicant to begin duties at the earliest opportunity. Terms of employment: Permanent employment or Full time. Work schedule: Morning, Day.

Job Description

• The candidate must read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
• The candidate must measure and mark sheet metal according to templates.
• The candidate must supervise other workers.
• The candidate must cut materials using power tools or by hand.
• The candidate must assemble, erect, and install hoisting and rigging equipment.
• The candidate must fit and join sheet metal parts.
• The candidate must install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes.
• The candidate must erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms.
• The candidate must install sheet metal flashings.
• The candidate must install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools.
• The candidate must apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor's degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.

Work Site Environment

• The candidate must be able to work at heights.
• The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in various locations when employees are scattered across different worksites.
