Small engine mechanic

ISLAND SAW AND TURF is situated in Duncan, BC and is hiring a Small engine mechanic to join the team. The successful candidate must be available to start work as soon as possible. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position. Flexible availability required for: Day.

Job Description

• The candidate must diagnose and isolate faults in engines and motors.
• The candidate must discuss work with the supervisor.
• The candidate must estimate repair costs.
• The candidate must adjust, repair or replace parts using hand tools and equipment.
• The candidate must test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance.
• The candidate must perform scheduled maintenance service on equipment.
• The candidate must advise customers on work performed and the condition of equipment.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must hold a Registered Apprenticeship certificate.
• Equivalent experience is acceptable.
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must have good judgement skills.
• The candidate must be well-organized.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate must be a good team player.
• The candidate must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
• The candidate must be able to distinguish between colours.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
• The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
