Job Description

  • The candidate must estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items.
  • The candidate must estimate labour costs.
  • The candidate must maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
  • The candidate must analyze operating costs and other data.
  • The candidate must demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to cooking staff.
  • The candidate must supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers.
  • The candidate must create new recipes.
  • The candidate must instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
  • The candidate must prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
  • The candidate must supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.
  • The candidate must prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions.
  • The candidate must prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.
  • The candidate must requisition food and kitchen supplies as needed.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must be fluent in English.
  • The candidate must have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program lasting 3 months to less than 1 year.
