Long haul truck driver

DDC Interstate Ltd. is situated in Orangeville, ON and is hiring a Long haul truck driver to join the team. This position requires the successful applicant to begin duties at the earliest opportunity. Terms of employment: Permanent employment or Full time. The schedule involves Shift shifts.

Job Description

• The candidate must calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed.
• The candidate must plan or adjust routes using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
• The candidate must drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• The candidate must oversee the condition of vehicles and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
• The candidate must perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle operation.
• The candidate must record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
• The candidate must tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate must be well-organized.
• The candidate must be a good team player.
• The candidate must be hardworking.
• The candidate should have an eye for detail.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
