Long haul truck driver

Contrans Flatbed Group in Truro, NS is seeking a self-motivated Long haul truck driver. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. Terms of employment: Permanent employment or Full time. The schedule involves Day, Evening, Weekend shifts.

Job Description

• The candidate must obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes.
• The candidate must oversee the condition of vehicles and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
• The candidate must perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle operation.
• The candidate must receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• The candidate must record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
• The candidate must tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 45 kg (100 lbs).
• The candidate must be flexible.
• The candidate must have good judgement skills.
• The candidate must be well-organized.
