Installer and finisher, drywall

SMART HOME CONTRACTING SERVICES INC. in Brampton, ON is inviting applications for the position of Installer and finisher, drywall. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills to start as soon as possible. This is a Permanent employment or Full time position.

Job Description

• The candidate must read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
• The candidate must apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints smoothly.
• The candidate must cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners.
• The candidate must fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife.
• The candidate must measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets.
• The candidate must position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists.
• The candidate must smooth out excess compound and allow coats to dry.
• The candidate must tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound.
• The candidate must install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied.
• The candidate must install exterior and interior steel studs.
• The candidate must install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings using hand and power tools.
• The candidate must estimate costs and materials.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate must have good judgement skills.
• The candidate must be reliable.

Work Setting

• The candidate should work in various locations when employees are scattered across different worksites.
