Fish processing plant labourer

Northsyde Processing in North Sydney, NS is inviting applications for the position of Fish processing plant labourer. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills to start as soon as possible. This is a Seasonal employment - Part time position. Flexible availability required for: Overtime required, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, On call, Overtime available.

Job Description

• The candidate must unload fish and shellfish from vessels and transport by hand.
• The candidate must transport fish and shellfish to the designated work area.
• The candidate must condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing.
• The candidate must weigh fish or shellfish, record weights, and pack products in ice for storage or transport.
• The candidate must clean machines and immediate work areas.
• The candidate must measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines.
• The candidate must sort fish according to species, weight, and destination.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor's degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills.
• The candidate must be reliable.
• The candidate must be a good team player.
• The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks frequently.
• The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work.
• The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
• The candidate must be willing to work in a standing position for extended periods.

Work Site Environment

• The work site environment is noisy, and the candidate must be able to work with complete concentration even in such conditions.
• The candidate must work in an environment with a high concentration of odours.
• The candidate must work in cold or refrigerated conditions.
• The candidate must work in wet or damp conditions.
