Halifax Tower Hotel /Comfort Hotel ( Beechville, NS) is currently looking for a skilled Executive chef. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and begin duties immediately. Position status: Permanent employment or Full time. Work schedule: Day, Evening, Weekend, Shift.

Job Description

• The candidate must estimate the amount and costs of supplies and food items.
• The candidate must estimate labour costs.
• The candidate must maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
• The candidate must analyze operating costs and other data.
• The candidate must demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to cooking staff.
• The candidate must supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks, and other kitchen workers.
• The candidate must create new recipes.
• The candidate must instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
• The candidate must prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets.
• The candidate must supervise cooks and other kitchen staff.
• The candidate must prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions.
• The candidate must prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.
• The candidate must requisition food and kitchen supplies as needed.
• The candidate must arrange for equipment purchases and repairs.
• The candidate must consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions.
• The candidate must plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants.
• The candidate must plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
• The candidate must prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
• The candidate must train staff in the preparation, cooking, and handling of food.
• The candidate must lead and instruct individuals.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
• The candidate must be able to handle weights between 45 and 60 kg (100-132 lbs).
• The candidate must demonstrate leadership.
• The candidate must be dependable.

• The candidate must have excellent oral communication skills.
• The candidate must be flexible.

• The candidate must be able to work in a hotel, motel, or resort with additional sports and leisure facilities, set in a natural environment that attracts visitors beyond the accommodations.
