Child and youth worker

Developmental Disabilities Association in Vancouver, BC is inviting applications for the position of Child and youth worker. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills to start as soon as possible. This role offers Permanent employment - Part time employment. Shift timings include: Morning, Day, Evening, , 12:00 to 18:00.

Job Description

• The candidate must develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
• The candidate must lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
• The candidate must encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities.
• The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
• The candidate must establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.

Job Requirements

• The candidate must be fluent in English.
• The candidate must hold a certificate or diploma in a related trade.
• The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.

Work Setting

• The candidate must work in a group home to provide care, supervision, and support to residents, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
• The candidate should work in a child care centre, a day nursery, or a crèches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
