Job Description

  • The candidate must read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements.
  • The candidate must measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • The candidate must fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must be fluent in English.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
  • Equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • The candidate must be accurate.
  • The candidate must have good judgement skills.
  • The candidate must be reliable.
  • The candidate must be a good team player.
  • The candidate must be punctual.
  • The candidate must be willing to work long hours in bending, crouching, and kneeling positions.
  • The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work.
  • The candidate must be able to meet tight deadlines.
  • The candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Work Setting

  • The candidate should work in construction trades and crafts, including bricklaying, stonemasonry, carpentry, joinery, demolition, electrical work, painting and decorating, plumbing, scaffolding, steeple jacking, and wall and floor work.
  • The candidate must work in millwork or prefabrication shopwork to cut, assemble, and finish building components.
  • The candidate must work in residential settings, performing tasks on one-, two-, and three-family dwellings.
