Job Description

  • The candidate must assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs.
  • The candidate must maintain daycare equipment.
  • The candidate must assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • The candidate must lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • The candidate must assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping accurate records.
  • The candidate must encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities.
  • The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • The candidate must prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • The candidate must submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • The candidate must discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
  • The candidate must establish guidelines for behaviour.
  • The candidate must attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and challenges of children.
  • The candidate must establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • The candidate must plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must be fluent in English.
  • The candidate must have a certificate of Secondary (high) school graduation.
