Job Description

  • The candidate must assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs.
  • The candidate must develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • The candidate must maintain daycare equipment.
  • The candidate must engage in storytelling.
  • The candidate must supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers.
  • The candidate must synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents.
  • The candidate must lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • The candidate must order supplies and equipment.
  • The candidate must encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activities.
  • The candidate must engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • The candidate must guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • The candidate must observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
  • The candidate must submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • The candidate must discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.

  • The candidate will be required to work long hours in an outdoor environment.

Work Setting

  • The candidate should work in a child care centre, a day nursery, or a crΓ¨ches, probably the most formal childcare setting.
  • The candidate must work in a kindergarten to supervise children, support educational activities, and promote social and cognitive development.
  • The candidate should work in before and after-school programs to provide a safe, fun environment for all students to participate in academic, leisure, and recreational activities outside the traditional school day.
  • The candidate must work in a daycare center or nursery school, providing care and supervision while supporting educational and recreational activities that promote children’s cognitive and social development.
