Job Description

  • The candidate must operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
  • The candidate must trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form a complete unit and reinforce joints.
  • The candidate must sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products, and prepare and apply laminated plastics.
  • The candidate must apply varnish, veneer, stain, or polish to finished products.
  • The candidate must maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Requirements

  • The candidate must be fluent in English.
  • The candidate must hold a certificate or diploma in a related trade.
  • The candidate must be able to handle a weight of up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • The candidate should be able to work effectively in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • The candidate should have an eye for detail.

Work Site Environment

  • The work environment is smoke-free.

Work Setting

  • The candidate should work in a custom cabinet shop to install kitchen and bathroom cabinets and fittings to new or renovation work and shop fittings.
  • The candidate must work in a millwork shop to fabricate, assemble, and finish wooden components for construction or custom projects.
  • The candidate must work in a commercial setting that fosters a workforce of highly competent, respectful, mature, and accountable employees working toward a common goal.
  • The candidate should be able to work in the custom work order, made or performed according to personal order.
