Job Description

The candidate must operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, and shapers, to cut, shape, and form parts and components.
The candidate must prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage.
The candidate must shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
The candidate must instruct apprentices.
The candidate must study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made.
The candidate must operate CADD and other computer software systems.
The candidate must trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form a complete unit and reinforce joints.
The candidate must sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products, and prepare and apply laminated plastics.
The candidate must apply varnish, veneer, stain, or polish to finished products.
The candidate must maintain a clean and safe work environment.
The candidate must supervise other workers.
The candidate must estimate costs and materials.
