Find Work Since 2001

Before LinkedIn Jobs. Before Indeed. Before the gig economy changed everything — Canada Job Centre was already connecting employers and job seekers coast to coast.

24 Years of Canadian Employment

In 2001, when the internet was still new to most Canadians, Canada Job Centre opened its doors online with a simple mission — make it easier for Canadians to find work, and for employers to find the right people.

“Through recessions, a global pandemic, and the age of AI — Canada Job Centre has remained standing. While many job portals came and went, we continued.”

Today, we carry 24 years of Canadian employment knowledge into a new era — serving the next generation of workers, newcomers, and career changers with the same commitment we had on day one.

Where It All Started — September 22, 2001

This is what Canada Job Centre looked like on launch day — captured by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine on Saturday, September 22nd 2001. At the time, Google was just three years old, Facebook didn’t exist, and LinkedIn had not yet launched.
